Senior citizens are highly likely to need health insurance coverage. Therefore, many seniors have access to Medicare and its various options.

If you provide Medicare options, ALB Senior Markets can help you design a portfolio to meet your customers' needs.

What is Medicare?

The government provides Medicare as a fee-for-service insurance option for a wide range of senior citizens and others with special health needs.

Original Medicare is the traditional form of the program. The government compensates medical providers under four aspects of coverage:

  • Part A: Think of this as hospital coverage. It typically covers overnight stays, outpatient care, surgery, emergency services, nursing home care, home health services and hospice.
  • Part B: This coverage applies to medical care not related to hospitalizations. It covers necessary care, like check-ups, that you need to manage a health condition. Part B also covers preventative care to help you detect or avoid certain conditions. Examples include ambulance services, mental health care, outpatient procedures and clinical research.
  • Part C: Also known as a Medicare Advantage. This coverage combines Parts A and B and often Part D as well.
  • Part D: Offers prescription drug coverage. This coverage often greatly reduces the amount that recipients will pay for medication.

Medicare recipients have to meet a variety of qualifications to enroll in coverage. However, the qualifications often vary from person to person. Sometimes, the costs and coverage available to certain Medicare participants might also vary. Rates often vary based on factors like your tax filing status.

What Medicare options are available?

Agents can help Medicare recipients customize their plans to better meet their needs. ALB Senior Markets provides the resources to help an agent do so.

Medicare offers several alternative plans to help you supplement your Original coverage. Supplementary plans will offer you at least the same coverage as Original Medicare. However, they might also offer additional services.

ALB Senior Markets offers two different supplementary Medicare plans.

  1. A Medicare Advantage Plan, also called Part C, combines Parts A and B coverage. Recipients have the option to customize these plans with coverage like vision and dental insurance. You can also often add Part D coverage to a Medicare Advantage plan.
  2. A Medicare Supplemental Plan, also known as Medigap, often has a higher premium than standard Medicare. However, Medigap supplements coverage gaps and deductibles that Part A and Part B do not.

With supplemental Medicare plans, you can expand your coverage to more services. We offer supplemental options from multiple insurance providers including Manhattan Life, Mutual of Omaha, Aetna, Americo, United Healthcare, Transamerica and Gerber.

Why do you need Medicare?

Once you reach retirement, it can be hard to afford monthly health insurance premiums. Medicare offers you access to comprehensive care at an affordable price.
